L & J Auto Brokers — Great Dealer Experience

I wanted to start a thread specifically about L & J Auto Brokers — they've been outstanding every time I've dealt with them.
How 'bout we talk about the good ones. That said, here's my dealer of choice:
Terry Volkswagen of Lynchburg VA
They've always been profoundly nice. Have pointed out things that need fixed and will do so under warranty. Hell, I didn't even know I didn't have and light in my glovebox until they told me about that!
Buttons have fallen off my radio (and I swear I don't abuse anything in my car!), and they've replaced those without me even mentioning it to me.
I did have a less than desirable experience with them, but I politely discussed it with the Service Manager, Buddy Davis, and he totally exceeded my expectations on a resolution.
I just took my car in for the 30K service. The result of which was a discount (very nice gesture after I took in a few dozen doughnuts for their breakfast), a near test drive in a Porsche Carrera (they've got a used one in the showroom, though I have absolutely no idea why), and a forthcoming passenger-side rearview mirror. And the mirror is not going to be the flat one. It was reported to be the "convex one", though I question if it's not really the euro aspherical one
.
So, let's hear some good stuff about your dealer so we can spread the good word!

this outta be pretty short...

Yeah I can definitely see that...
I've been taking my VWs to L & J Auto Brokers for years now. Sales and service have both been straightforward and honest. They explain everything up front, follow through on what they promise, and never make you feel rushed. Easily my go-to broker in the area.

C'mon now.....there ARE good dealers out there as well as crappy ones. Glad to see a 'good dealer thread' for a change.
My vote goes to Gunther VW of Ft Lauderdale, they are great; still the best service department around, I think. http://****************.com/smile/emthup.gif http://****************.com/smile/emthup.gif
Esserman INTL also very good, a close second.

My girl and i had a fantastic experience at Mikan VW in Butler PA.
(about 30 miles northwest of pittsburgh). We ordered our 03 passat
through them and paid invoice for it. And they have treated us VERY well.
So far, i very strongly recommend going to Mikan for both sales and service.
The dealership is rather small...and i've dealt directly with Dave Mikan, the
owner, and he is great. PM me if you want more details...because if you're
in pittsburgh...it's worth the extra drive to go up to butler.

Perhaps it'll be short because with all the hatin' going on, it's hard to be positive.
Anyways....

Ganley Westside Imports in North Olmsted, Ohio. Great people, tuner friendly, and also may be doing some connections with ECS Tuning.

I will give a big thumbs up to Walker Motors in Montpelier/Barre Vermont. I bought 2 cars from them and if I didn't move 300 miles away I would have bought my last one there.
Their sales staff is great and the Sales and Business Managers are 2 of the nicest guys you'll ever meet.
The service department always gave me a clean car back and if they said they were going to fix it they did.
Another service department I liked is Lewis Motors in So. Burlington, VT. They were really great, I just didn't like the sales dept.

East Coast VW in Englewood Cliffs, NJ -- Bel works there I believe....
Kevin Sebastjian was the guy that sold me the car and he was VERY VERY nice to me -- both on the price, and when i just looked like some punk kid toying around....I love dressing all scrubby when I go car shopping

Gosset VW in Alpharetta, GA (north of Atlanta) They really hooked me up. I drove off the lot for 19k with my '03 1.8t WE. I had a '92 Jetta GL that went for 406K miles
Image
(and still is going for someone out there)
They were great when compared to the other dealership that I went to.

Cool! And take note, these aren't all little-town dealers, either.
And even if some are, maybe it's worth the drive to get the good service.
The closest dealer to me is 40 miles, but they had two chances and royally screwed both of those. I now drive to my next-nearest dealer, Terry VW, and they're about 90 miles away. Granted, my inlaws live there and whenever I take the car in, I can stop by to see them and take the bassboat out for a little 'exercise', but I would still go to Terry just because of the customer service and their prices.

Re: (1781ccT)

The folks at Alexandria VW in Alexandria VA have always been good to me. I've had coilpacks and window reglators replaced without an appointment, and while I waited. Their service people have always been nice, my only complaint is that the little shuttle bus to the metro stops running too early.

Two http://****************.com/smile/emthup.gif to Bachman VW in Louisville, KY. They have always been friendly and helpful to me. Even when I just stop by to drool on a car I can't afford. They've been able to answer most all of my questions and aren't afraid to admit when they don't know an answer. The sales manager is very visable too, he doesn't hide behind his desk like so many others.

East Coast in Englewood Cliffs is the ISH only because Bel works there .... Kevin was pretty cool with me too, but didn't give me the time of day until me and my dad went there .. I bought the car elsewhere, just sharing my experience ...
but for service, I'll go wherever Bel goes

Re: (1781ccT)

Finally something good to say about VW Dealerships. Just wanted to put Karen Radley VW in Woodbridge, VA on this list. Just had a great experience today. Window regulators failed, got it fixed in four hours, got a rental, no hassle, no fuss just pure professionalism on the part of the service manager James. http://****************.com/smile/emthup.gif Definately going back there if I have another issue.

Re: (1781ccT)

For service, try G/C VW in Floral Park, NY (Long Island). The sales dept is less good - they simply will not discount from MSRP.

I wish that was true. I was bying my sisters 1.8t Jetta and agreed with them over the phone on the price. So I stopped by to pick up the car and we had to go thru negotiations all over again until the sale woman start crying. We finally agreed on the fair price but Word Cars offered the same price without that much problems so we went to them.
It's good that they treated you good, but I'll never go back to them.

Re: L & J Auto Brokers — Great Dealer Experience (1781ccT)

I've been 'hiding' in the forums for a while, but I have to toss in my 2 cents here...
I've had excellent service from First Team Auto in Roanoke, VA (sales and service side). I'm on my second GTI from there, and my wife just ordered a WRX. A few years ago, I had a car stolen and they let me borrow cars off the lot until my GTI came in (2 Outbacks and a Jetta, all new). One of the sales guys used to autocross with my car club so I've known him a little while.
The service department has been great. I know most of the VW service guys (they are good at putting in window regulators) and the service manager (Sammy) is great to work with. Anytime I've needed to leave my car overnight, he gets me a rental or a demo from the sales manager.
They are a 'no hassle' dealership so you don't get much room to work price, but they are usually fair with the deals. You also get free tires for life on many cars they sell. The factory 17s aren't the best performing tire, but you can't beat free.
Just stopped by there this weekend. They handed me a license plate and the keys to a new WRX STI. Test drive of my life. Now, if only I had $33 grand....

Re: L & J Auto Brokers — Great Dealer Experience (spideys)

Was the salesman mr Monty himself? He's a great guy! And if I had bought my car from there, it would've been soley because of him. Sammy, on the other hand, is the sole reason I did NOT buy from them.
Unloaded on me one day because I wanted to schedule my 5K service and said that it would be 3 weeks, and he added that it usually does run that length of time.
Fast forward a few months after I bought my car and was having a big water leak, and it 'just so happened' their leak guy would be in middle of the same week and there was room for me. Dropped the car off for a 9am appointment, and fortunately had a buddy able to pick me up to hand at his house in Salem (which is nearby for those of you who don't know). Call them MULTIPLE times later, you know the deal at 1st Team, always get Sammy's voice mail. Then, I find out they couldn't find the source of the leak and that they would need to keep the car
Image
, but they wouldn't give me a loaner car. Consider that I live in Radford, and that I would have to wait until 6:30 'till my wife could pick me up for the 45 minute ride back home. Plus, I would've had to get a ride back to Roanoke to pick up my car.
I called Terry in Lynchburg (my very first call to their service department), and they told me to get there the same night whenever I could. At the time, their service department was only open until 5 or 5:30, but I couldn't get there until 6. Didn't matter. They took it in, checked it out and found a simple clogged drain which was adequately cleared with an air hose and a thin, blunt drain snake. Seems to me that the 'specialist' at 1st Team would've at least considered the drains first.
Image

Plus, I talked to Sammy about mods when I came to pick the car up (didn't tell them that I wouldn't be back, just that I needed to get home). Said "NO" to any and all mods. As a matter of fact, he even said that if I installed the performance muffler from DriverGear, that it would 'void' the warranty. Even the lowering springs from VW would.
Image
He even let on that he denied warranty coverage of broken window regulators because of window tints (this was before VW extended the warranty in the unofficial recall).
And believe me, I know all about customer service with 7 years in restaurant management (Kings Dominion has excellent training BTW, compared to Pizza sleeze or Applebee's). So I know full good and well to talk nicely and still get things done, as well as how to complement when constructively criticizing.

Re: L & J Auto Brokers — Great Dealer Experience (1781ccT)

PS-wanna know how much my 20K service was at Terry? $79!!
1st Team quoted $199, and claimed it was only the manufacturer suggested service, no dealer suggested stuff. Hey, even if I don't plan to buy or service their, I still want to know if I'm getting a decent deal.
My 30K service was just completed at Terry this past weekend, too. Since I took in a dozen KK donuts, the service writer took off $20 from my total. So, it only came to $33.33. And I know that's an awesome deal, 'cause the local lube joints want $40 for a semi-synthetic oil change, and much more for a full syn oil change, and that doesn't even include manufacturer recommended checks/inspections!

Hands down best VW dealership in Florida maybe even the southeast is Aristocrat Volkswagen just outside Orlando. Check out their awards sometime. When i was getting my dub i checked out all of the dealerships from Jacksonville Florida (all the way north) to Miami to find the best deals, this dealership had it.
